نحن الموقعون أدناه على هذه العريضة نؤكد ابتداءاً انزعاجنا و تعجبنا و معارضتنا للطريقة التي قررت إدارة "فيسبوك"
أن تنتهجها لاختيار المجلس الأعلي للإشراف علي المحتوي و هو الأمر الذي
كان من المتوقع أن يقوم علي أسس ديمقراطية و تشاركية تمكن مستخدمي المنصة
من اختيار من يمثلهم ليشرف علي المحتوي الذي يشاركه المستخدمون بدلاً من
فرض الأمر عليهم.
و عليه و تخصيصاً فإننا نعلن رفضنا التام لقيام إدارة فيسبوك بتعيين
الناشطة اليمنية توكل كرمان ضمن مجلس حكماء فيسبوك أو ما تطلق الشركة عليه
"مجلس الإشراف علي المحتوي" فلا هي تمثل الشارع اليمني و لا هي تمثل الشارع
العربي و إنما هي واجهة لتحزبات فكرية و أيديولوجية تتنافي تماماً مع ما
يتطلبه هذا المنصب من الحيادية و الشفافية و احترام الشعوب و هو ما يحظي به
المئات من الشخصيات العامة العربية بخلاف توكل كرمان التي يضرب اختيارها
نزاهة و سمعة مجلس الإشراف علي المحتوي في مقتل و يفقدنا نحن مستخدمي الفيس
بوك كل ركائز الثقة تجاه هذه المنصة
إن اختيار كرمان إنما يدل عن جهل تام بطبيعة الواقع السياسي والاجتماعي
العربي الذي تمثل فيه كرمان كل أدوار مساندة النُظم الإرهابية و العبث
بمقدرات الأوطان و التحريض علي العنف وهو ما يتعارض بالكلية مع قيم
"فيسبوك" كمنصة افتراضية ترحب بالتنوع و تدعم قيم احترام الآخر و نبذ
العنف.
إن كرمان إذ تمثل فهي تمثل الإزدواجية بعينها فكيف لناشط في مجال حقوق
الإنسان أن يغض الطرف عن مقتل الآلاف من المدنيين في محيطها العربي علي
أيدي من تدعمهم و تؤيدهم
إعلاءاً لقيم الديمقراطية ، فإننا نناشد "فيسبوك" بالالتفات إلي آراء
مئات الآلاف من الموقعين علي هذه العريضة و الذين يرفضون رفضاً قاطعاً
اختيار من يتسبب في محنة لأوطانهم ليراقب و يفصل في محتوي ما يكتبونه ما
يضرب بعرض .الحائط كل ثقة بين فيسبوك و مستخدميه
We, the signatories of this petition, first confirm our annoyance,
surprise, and opposition to the way that Facebook Administration decided
to follow in selecting the members of the Content Oversight Board,
which was expected to be based on democratic and participatory
foundations that allow the platforms’ users to select who represents
them in overseeing the content rather than being forced on them.
Accordingly, we declare our absolute rejection of the Facebook
Administration’s appointment of the Yemeni activist Tawakkol Karman to
the Content Oversight Board. She neither represents the Yemeni street
not the Arab street, but she is rather a front for intellectual and
ideological partisanships that contradict with what this position
requires;of impartiality, transparency, and respect for the people.
These features characterize hundreds of Arab public figures other than
Tawakkol Karman whose selection strongly undermines the integrity and
reputation of the Content Oversight Board, and makes us, the users, lose
all trust in the Board.
Selecting Karman proves a complete ignorance of the Arab political
and social reality, where Karman represents all the supporting roles to
terrorist groups, t messing with the destinies of nations, and to
instigating violence. This strongly contradicts the values of Facebook,
as a virtual platform that welcomes diversity, supports respect for the
other, and renounces violence.
What Karman represents is clear ambivalence. How can a human rights
activist turn a blind eye to the murder of thousands of civilians in her
Arab region at the hands of those she aids and supports to promote the
values of democracy? We call for Facebook to listen to the opinions of
hundreds of thousands of signatories of this petition who decisively
reject selecting someone who is causing distress in their countries to
oversee and decide on the content they write. This eliminates any trust
between Facebook and its users.
